New Commercial Workshop Units, Gatebeck

The site is situated in an industrial area, bordered by fields and private residences in the small hamlet of Gatebeck, on what was once a nineteenth century gunpowder works and more recently an agricultural workshop.

The units were designed to incorporate any number of variations for a potential tenant: either two storey or large open ceiling plan unit, or 1/3 and 2/3 unit partitioning, all with associated access, main office space, storage and inclusive access and toilet facilities. The emphasis was on providing floor area for various compatible small scale industry, craft workshops, or commercial storage uses.

Provision was made for a new Klargester Bio Disc treatment plant to serve the site and as approved by the Environment Agency. Landscaping, civil and topographical engineering works were incorporated to screen much of the site from the surrounding countryside.
